KS3 English Success
KS3 English Success is my structured 1:1 tutoring pathway for students in Years 7 - 9.
It’s designed to:

Gently prepare students for the demands of GCSE English
We work in 10 - 12 week blocks, with clear goals and regular review points. Most KS3 students stay with me for at least one academic year, and many continue into GCSE.
What Will Your Child Learn?
Within the KS3 Masterclass, your child will move through three flexible phases:
Phase 1: Confidence Foundations
Strengthening core reading and writing skills, tidying up punctuation and sentence structure can feel overwhelming, so Phase 1 focuses on these basics in a calm, structured way.
In Phase 1, we focus on reading comprehension, creative writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) and general confidence‑building.
Phase 2: Skills in Action
Phase 2 is all about applying those skills to a range of texts and tasks. We work on analytical reading, clear paragraph writing (PEE/PEAL/PETER), vocabulary and literary techniques, building strong foundations for future GCSE work.
Phase 3: GCSE Bridge
Phase 3 gently introduces GCSE style questions and expectations so that the jump to Year 10 feels manageable. We develop writing stamina, introduce past paper‑style tasks and begin to think more critically about texts.
Every child moves through these phases at their own pace. Some stay in the same phase for more than one block; others move on more quickly. The phases give us a clear roadmap, but I always adapt the work to your child’s needs, confidence and goals.
