At English Home Studies, I understand that finding the right English tutor or revision resource can feel overwhelming and, with over 20 years of teaching experience, I know the questions parents and students often have before starting lessons.
This page brings together the most frequently asked questions about my 1:1 online tuition, flexible lesson lengths, booking process and payment options to help you quickly find the information you need.

What Ages / Year Groups Do You Teach?
I work with students aged 9 -16 (Upper KS2, KS3 and GCSE). Whether your child needs help building reading confidence in primary school or is preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature, I tailor every lesson to suit their needs and learning style.

How Do Online English Lessons Work?
All lessons are held online using Zoom and students can see and work on shared documents, digital worksheets and exam questions. making the experience interactive and engaging.
Homework, GCSE practice papers and additional support can also be provided on request.

How Long Are Your Lessons?
I offer lessons from 45 mins for younger students to 75 mins for older students who might need a bit longer for exam preparation. My most popular lessons are 1 hour and can be booked either weekly or fortnightly.

Do You Offer Help With Both English Language and Literature?
Yes! I teach both English Language and English Literature, including popular texts such as Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, An Inspector Calls, and the poetry anthologies.

Can You Help With Year 6 SATs, 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and GCSE English Exams?
Absolutely. I focus on exam techniques, timing strategies, and past paper practice to help students achieve the best results in their English exams.

How Do I Book A Lesson?
Rather than using an automatic booking system, I arrange lessons personally to ensure that both the content and lesson length are tailored to each student.

How Can I Pay For Lessons?
You will receive an invoice on a weekly, monthly or half-termly basis, depending on your preference and payment can be made via Stripe, credit or debit card, Apple Pay or bank transfer. All payments must be received at least 24 hours before the lesson to secure your booking.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
If you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible and at least 24 hours before the scheduled session. This allows me to offer the time slot to another student.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at 50% of the lesson fee, though I offer one free short-notice cancellation per term to allow for sickness or genuine emergencies. I strive to be as flexible as possible, so if you’re unsure or need to discuss your situation, please get in touch.
